Macys

A Cook County woman is suing over claims she was injured while shopping at Macy's, a retail department store.

Sandra Navarro filed a lawsuit Aug. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Macy’s Department Store, a division of Macy’s Retail Holdings Inc., citing negligence.

According to the claim, Navarro was legally shopping at a Macy’s store, located at 111 N. State St. in Chicago, on Nov. 20, 2013, when she fell over another customer, who fell themselves due to an overcrowded escalator, resulting in personal injuries and permanent disability and disfigurement which has required her to expend large sums of money for medical care and treatment.

Navarro is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus the costs of this suit, for Macy’s negligence to not further secure its premises and escalators, upon where Navarro fell and incurred injury, the claim states.

She is being represented by J. Michael Condron of Newman, Boyer & Statham, Ltd. in Tinley Park.
