A Cook County woman is suing a Burbank nursing home, alleging wrongful death on behalf of her husband’s estate.

Lorraine M. Woods, administrator of the estate of Leroy F. Woods Sr., filed a lawsuit Sept. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Brentwood Operating Company, doing business as Brentwood Sub-Acute Healthcare Center and, as respondents in discovery, Berkshire Nursing and Rehab Facility, doing business as Aperion Care Forest Park.

According to the complaint, Leroy Woods was a resident of Brentwood in Burbank from Dec. 4, 2013 through March 12, 2014, excluding brief hospital stays. The suit says Woods developed a pressure ulcer on his right hip due to staff negligence while he lived at Brentwood. The suit alleges the wound became infected, contributing to Woods’ subsequent death.

Lorraine Woods seems more than $50,000 in damages, plus attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Mackenzie J. Mahony of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-009712.
