CHICAGO–A Cook County woman is suing a Chicago Heights hospital, alleging wrongful death in the passing of her 66-year-old husband.
Judy Kelley, independent administrator of the estate of Albert Kelley Sr., filed a lawsuit Nov. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Franciscan Alliance Inc., doing business as St. James Hospital and Health Centers, Chicago Heights, and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate South Suburban Hospital. The suit alleges medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, Albert Kelley Sr., a patient with a high risk of developing pressure sores, was admitted to St. James Hospital on Dec. 8, 2013, suffering from pneumonia, altered mental status and other issues. During the 12 days he remained there, the suit says, Kelley developed a stage 2 coccyx pressure sore due to the defendant’s negligence.
