Auction bidder blames Orbitbid.com for injuries he suffered while retrieving purchase

Forklift

CHICAGO – A Cook County man says his fingers were crushed when workers at Orbitbid.com attempted to load a hydraulic press onto his truck.

Rawhi Eid filed a lawsuit on Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Miedema Auctioneering Inc., doing business as Orbitbid.com and National Bulk Equipment Inc., alleging negligence and personal injury.

According to the complaint, Eid bought a hydraulic press from Orbitbid.com on Dec. 13, 2011 and came to the warehouse the next day to retrieve his purchase. As the defendant’s employees attempted to use a forklift to load the hydraulic press onto Eid’s trailer, the suit alleges his hand and fingers were trapped between the forklift and the hydraulic press. Eid alleges he suffered serious and permanent injuries, as well as lost wages; and will expend great sums on medical care because of his injuries.

Eid seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus litigation costs. He is represented by John R. Gorey of the Gorey Law Group P.C. in Chicago.
