Man sues nursing home in claim of wrongful death

By Joe Torke | Mar 3, 2016

CHICAGO — The independent administrator of a deceased woman's estate has sued a nursing home, alleging negligence that contributed to a wrongful death.

Gerald Brix sued Elmwood Care Inc. and S.I.R. Management Inc. on Feb. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants are responsible for a failure to properly care for a wound from a surgical procedure.

The plaintiff claims the wound developed an infection that contributed to the June 10, 2014 death of Nancy Brix, and he claims that nursing home staff did not follow proper procedures in wound care.

The plaintiff seeks compensation in excess of $50,000. He is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte and Mary K. Volk of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
