Nursing home, hospital targeted in wrongful death suit

Nursinghome

CHICAGO — The independent administrator of a deceased man's estate has sued a nursing home and hospital over an allegation of wrongful death.

Diane Weatherall is suing Coles Supportive Living Center LLC and Jackson Park Hospital Foundation, citing allegations of negligence and wrongful death.

The plaintiff sued on Feb. 5, in the Court of Cook County, Illinois County Department, Law Division against the defendants, alleging they failed to properly care for her uncle to prevent complications of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff alleges that, after being admitted to Coles on Dec. 21, 2012, George Weatherall developed multiple pressure ulcers that worsened. The plaintiff holds Coles Supportive Living Center LLC and Jackson Park Hospital Foundation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to assist, supervise and monitor the care and treatment to avoid the development and worsening of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Bella Feinstein of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman in Chicago.
