CHICAGO – A woman is suing two Cook County health care facilities over allegations of wrongful death.

Marta Vargas, as independent administrator for the estate of Elena Ramirez Marroquin Marroquin, filed a complaint on March 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Glencrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center LTD, doing business as Glencrest Healthcare & Rehab Center; Glen Health and Home Management Inc.; Cristina Torre, RN; Monina David, RN; Vivien Cavo, RN; and THC Chicago Inc., doing business as Kindred-Chicago-Central Hospital, citing negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between March 5, 2014, and May 29, 2014, Marroquin was under the care of the defendants and developed and suffered internal and external injuries that contributed to her death on July 19, 2014. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to develop and implement a care plan to meet Marroquin's needs, failed to report changes in her condition, failed to provide appropriate medical care and other counts.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits. She is represented by Jacqueline Kanter of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
