Woman sues nursing home over injury, pressure ulcers

Nursing home room

CHICAGO — A woman is suing a nursing home, alleging the facility violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act by failing to exercise due care and proper treatment and supervision.

Shirley Gladych filed suit on March 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Alden-Valley Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Inc., Alden Management Services Inc. and The Alden Group Ltd.

The plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 23, while she was a resident at Alden-Valley Ridge, she fell or was dropped while being transferred and suffered a broken femur; and she alleges that she has suffered pressure ulcers while at the nursing home where she was initially admitted in December 2014. She is alleging negligence by the defendants.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000 plus attorney's fees and the costs of suit. She is represented by Kristen N. Koeller of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates, P.C. in Chicago.
