CHICAGO — A man claims he has lost the ability to conceive his own biological children because a medical laboratory wrongly destroyed his frozen sperm.

Rade Radovich is suing Paul Studney, B.A.; Craig Niederberger, M.D.; Gail S. Prins, Ph.D., HCLD; an unknown laboratory technologist; and University Andrology Laboratory at the University of Illinois, citing alleged negligence.

The man filed a complaint on March 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to maintain the safety of his semen entrusted for storage.

The plaintiff alleges that he has lost the chance and ability to conceive his own children biologically because of the destruction, sometime from 2007 to 2014, of his frozen sperm. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to preserve the entrusted semen and failed to obtain permission from him in destroying the said sperm.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000. He is represented by Anastasia X. Pavich of Pavich Law Group, P.C. in Chicago in Illinois and by Ostojic & Scudder, LLC in Chicago.
