Patient blames medical service providers' negligence for injury

CHICAGO — A patient is suing medical practices and a doctor, alleging their negligence resulted in injury.

Rita Flanagan filed a lawsuit March 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. James M. Noth, Hinsdale Surgical Center, Inc., Hinsdale Surgical Center LLC and Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation, doing business as Adventist Health System, alleging negligence in failing to carefully perform a medical procedure.

According to the complaint, on April 1, 2014, Flanagan suffered decreased vision in the right eye as a result of medical procedures. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to examine her medical records and obtain proper consent prior to cataract surgery. As a result, the suit says, the plaintiff suffered personal and pecuniary injuries.
