CHICAGO — A customer is suing Walmart, alleging employees' negligence led to him slipping and falling in the company's Bedford Park store.

Ramon Zarate filed a lawsuit March 30, in the Cook County Circuit Court against Walmart Stores Inc., doing business as Walmart Store No. 1938 in Bedford Park, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care and caution by maintaining their premises in a condition sufficient for the safety of customers.

According to the complaint, on April 11, 2014, Zarate slipped and fell on a liquid on the floor inside Walmart's Bedford Park store, resulting in injuries. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to make reasonable inspection of the premises and failed to place signs near the hazard areas.

Zarate seeks a trial by jury and more than $50,000 in damages, plus the costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Rodney C. Bashford of Bashford Law Group PC in Glenview.
