Mental health

CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Chicago mental health clinic, alleging negligence resulting in emotional distress.

Amanda Walsh filed a lawsuit March 30, in Cook County Circuit Court against Clarity Clinic LLC, alleging the clinic knowingly violated the Clinical Psychology Licensing Act by allowing an unlicensed psychiatrist to provide mental health services.

According to the complaint, between Dec. 30, 2015 and early February 2016, Walsh has suffered emotional distress. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide her a duly licensed professional for a mental health care treatment.

Walsh seeks a trial by jury, damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Kenneth A. Hoffman of Mitchell Hoffman & Wolf LLC in Chicago.
