CHICAGO — A Cook County woman is suing a number of health service providers, alleging negligent treatment.

Florence Williams filed a lawsuit April 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Nilesh D. Mehta, Waukegan Illinois Hospital Company LLC and Oncology Hematology Associates of Northern Illinois LLC, alleging they failed to exercise due care in diagnosing and treating her condition.

According to the complaint, between November 2012 and April 2014, Williams has undergone unnecessary and excessive chemotherapy that caused her serious illness, permanent injuries and emotional distress due to a incorrect diagnosis. The plaintiff alleges the defendants provided unnecessary treatments in her oncology and chemotherapy care.

Williams seeks a trial by jury and damages in excess of court's jurisdictional limits. She is represented by attorney Colleen L. Murphy of Chicago.
