CHICAGO — A mother is suing a Harvey day care facility, alleging negligence in allowing her son to stay overnight.

Shamika Strickland, on behalf of her son and next friend, Jamari Jones, filed a lawsuit May 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Hugs & Snugs Day Care Inc. 2 and Hugs & Snugs Day Care Academy Inc., alleging negligence in failure to provide proper supervision to Jones.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 30, 2015, Jones, who was 2 years old was left alone overnight at Hugs & Snugs. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to check their facility for unattended children and failed to called Jones' family.

The suit says while Jones was alone he sustained injuries that required hospitalization.
