Family blames Chicago health care providers for relative's death

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO — A family member is suing a Chicago health care provider and staff, alleging their negligence caused a relative's death.

Elaine Jackson, as independent administrator of the estate of Mary Jackson, filed a lawsuit June 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Carlton at the Lake Inc., AK Care Inc., and nurses Neelambin Babariya, Josephine Auza and Adelina Ramirez, alleging negligence and wrongful death in that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

According to the complaint, between Dec. 10, 2013, and her death June 12, 2014, Mary Jackson sustained severe physical conditions that ultimately resulted in her death. The plaintiff alleges the defendants neglected their duties by failing to administer the proper procedure for caring for Jackson and failing to watch out for signs of other medical conditions while Jackson was under their supervision.

Elaine Jackson seeks judgment in excess of the court's jurisdictional limits. She is represented by Eva E. Golabek of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
