Man sues following loss of finger

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO — A man is suing Peter Snitovsky, M.D., individually and as an agent of Alex Orthopaedics LLC, and Norwegian American Hospital Inc., medical care providers, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Nicholas Corcoran filed a complaint on June 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in April 2013, he underwent surgery to his finger, which resulted in permanent injury including the loss of his finger. The plaintiff holds the defendants reponsible because they allegedly failed to properly evaluate the plaintiff's condition and prescribe antibiotics after the surgery.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs and any further relief as the court sees fit. He is represented by Kenneth C. Apicella of Drost, Gilbert, Andrew & Apicella, LLC in Palatine.
