Law money 06

CHICAGO — A man is suing Jane Addams Resource Corporation, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Luis Ruiz filed a complaint on June 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jane Addams Resource Corporation alleging that the Illinois corporation failed to provide him with working safety equipment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 15, 2015, he sustained burns to his retinas as a result of a malfunction of his welding mask, exposing his eyes to the welding arc. The plaintiff holds Jane Addams Resource Corporation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make sure that the safety equipment they provided was working and free of any defects that could cause a serious injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, punitive damages and court costs. He is represented by Neal C. Zazove of Neal C. Zazove & Associates, P.C. in Chicago.
