Woman claims metal bolt caused her to fall

Slip01

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Village of Calumet Park, a municipality, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Carmen Herrera filed a complaint on June 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against the municipality, claiming it failed to properly maintain the public sidewalk, which caused an accident.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 24, 2015, she sustained physical injuries as a result of tripping and falling on a metal bolt. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the village allegedly failed to keep the sidewalk free of any hazards or obstruction that could cause an accident to any pedestrian using it.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Daniel M. Breen of Breen Goril Law in Chicago.
