Woman says plasma donation procedure went wrong

CHICAGO — A woman is suing CSL Plasma Inc., a foreign corporation, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Raffaella Duarte filed a complaint on July 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against CSL Plasma Inc., alleging that the company continued with a plasma donation procedure despite warnings that it was not safe to do so.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 19, 2015, she experiencing nausea, dizziness and a stroke after a plasma donation procedure. The plaintiff holds CSL Plasma Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to evaluate the plaintiff's overall health before continuing with the plasma donation procedure.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court plus court costs. She is represented by Kevin J. McNamara of Kecin J. McNamara Law Offices, P.C. in Chicago.
