Law money 01

CHICAGO — A postal carrier is suing Herminda Lopez, a building manager and occupant, citing alleged negligence in connection with the collapse of a porch.

Angelique Mitchell filed a complaint on July 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Lopez, alleging that the building manager failed to maintain the building in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 29, 2014, she sustained injuries when the porch collapsed under her. The plaintiff holdsLopez responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff regarding the hazardous condition of the building.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Abels & Annes, P.C. in Chicago.
