CHICAGO — A man is suing Sanath Kumar, M.D.; Sanath Kumar, M.D., Ltd.; Advocate South Suburban Hospital; and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation, alleging negligence in medical care.

Stephen Becker filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between 2012 and 2015, he suffered physical injuries and pain. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly left a surgical clip inside him after performing surgery and failed to inform him about it.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Evan M. Smola of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
