Woman claims damages stemming from surgery

CHICAGO — A woman is suing William Hopkins, M.D., and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation d/b/a Advocate Medical Group, alleging negligence in medical care.

Amber O'Neill filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide her with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in April 2015, she sustained severe and permanent injury due to a surgery. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly used Ventralex mesh and failed to properly place it on her abdominal wall.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Edward M. Rubin of Rubin Machado & Rosenblum, Ltd. in Chicago.
