CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy, by his parents, is suing Riveredge Hospital, alleging that due to hospital negligence, a violent patient was assigned to share a room with the boy and sexually assaulted him.
The plaintiffs, identified as V.R. Doe, a minor, his father, M.R. Doe, and his mother M. Doe, filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Riveredge Hospital, alleging that the hospital failed to provide a proper and safe place for V.R. Doe.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in March 2015, V.R. Doe suffered physical and psychiatric injuries from being assaulted sexually by another patient at Riveredge. The plaintiffs hold the hospital responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision at all times to V.R. Doe while he was a patient in its facility.
The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant for damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Ralanda Webb of Webb Law Group LLC in Chicago.
