CHICAGO — A roofing worker is suing Easton Homes Inc., Easton Construction Inc., Tri Star Electric Inc., Loop Construction & Remodeling Inc., Loop Construction Inc., J.Z. Plumbing Inc., Jeff Hubbell and Melody Swartz, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries in connection with a workplace injury at a home construction site.

William Cuevas filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to maintain a safe work area for their employees.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 6, he was on the site to work as a roofer when he sustained physical injuries from stepping in an improperly covered hole. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to take necessary steps to make sure that their work area was free of any hazards that could cause injuries to workers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants of more than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Bennett J. Baker of Goldberg, Weisman & Cairo, Ltd. in Chicago.
