CHICAGO — The mother of an unborn child who died after she was shot with a crossbow bolt is suing Roberto Rodriguez Dominguez and Andres Rodriguez, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries, resulting in the death.

Dawn Ramirez, on her own behalf and as special administrator of the estate of Baby Ramirez, filed a complaint on Sept. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that Dominguez shot Ramirez, who was pregnant with Baby Ramirez, with a bolt from a crossbow, causing the baby's death

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 8, she sustained physical injuries which resulted in the death of her unborn child. The plaintiff holds Dominguez and Rodriguez responsible because Dominguez allegedly failed to exercise caution while shooting a bolt from a crossbow, causing it to hit Dawn Ramirez, and Rodriguez was also engaged in firing crossbow bolts in her vicinity.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $30,000, plus court costs. She is represented by John R. Krafcisin, of Cicero.
