CHICAGO — A Metra employee is suing the commuter rail service, alleging negligence resulting in an injury on the workplace.

Louis Valdery filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Metra, alleging that the employer failed to provide plaintiff a reasonably safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2014, he sustained physical injuries to his right shoulder when he slipped and fell. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to implement safety procedures in order to make sure the plaintiff was safe while performing his duties.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than the jurisdictional limits of the court plus court costs. He is represented by William J. McMahon of Hoey & Farina in Chicago.
