Advocate Christ Hospital, others accused of negligence in labor and delivery care

CHICAGO — A mother is suing Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center; doctors, identified as Karen Johnson, MD; Rachel Katherine Harrison, MD; and Julianne Z. Morton, MD; and various nurses, alleging negligence in providing labor and delivery care.

Bonita Johnson filed a complaint on Dec. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide her with proper care during the delivery of her son.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her son  suffered physical injuries including oxygen deprivation. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to perform proper monitoring and other procedures during labor and delivery of her son.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Margaret Battersby Black and Cari F. Silverman of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
