Presence Resurrection Medical Center, Baxter Healthcare accused of responsibility in overdose

A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against Presence Resurrection Medical Center and Baxter Healthcare Corporation, alleging negligence in medical care.

CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against Presence Resurrection Medical Center and Baxter Healthcare Corporation, alleging negligence in medical care.

Gloria Engel, on behalf of the estate of William Engel,  filed a complaint on Jan. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging they failed to provide a safe dose of amiodarone to William Engel.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges  Engel was overdosed with amiodarone, contributing to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly administering a dangerous dose of amiodarone to Engel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Scott B. Gibson of Gibson Lewis Law in Waukegan.
