CHICAGO — A woman is suing Kohl's Illinois Inc. and Kohl's Department Stores Inc., alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Norma Guzman filed a complaint on Feb. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to keep the carpet within their property flat on the floor.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 3, 2015, she sustained physical injuries when she tripped and fell on the floor. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly allowed a hazardous condition and failed to warn her about it.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Amanda M. Martin of Parente & Norem, P.C. in Chicago.
