Mother says Children's Hospital of Chicago failed to properly monitor daughter's heart

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — A mother is suing Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and other health care providers, alleging her new baby daughter died because the hospital didn't do enough to monitor a heart condition.

Susan Hanson-Garcia, as special administrator of the estate of her daughter, filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against the hospital; doctors Mariana Glusman, Sreela Namboodiri and Joann E. Ruiz ; Lincoln Pediatric Center P.C.; and Advocate Health Care Network, alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to her daughter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants allowed her daughter to be discharged without adequately monitoring her heart.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to satisfy the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by the Law Office of David J. Heyer Ltd. in Chicago.
