Astoria Place Skilled Nursing Facility, others accused of failing to prevent pressure sores

CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claims against Astoria Place Living & Rehab Center; Legacy Healthcare, Progressive Healthcare, and related entities, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Diana Lara, as independent administrator of the estate of Heladio Lara, filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging they failed to provide proper care to Heladio Lara.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges  Lara developed pressure sores that contributed to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision and assistance to Lara to ensure he did not develop pressure sores.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgement against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael F. Bonamarte and Pamela Dimo of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
