General court 02

CHICAGO — A deceased man's family is suing a nursing facility, alleging its staff didn't do enough to prevent him from developing pressure sores and, ultimately, from choking on his food.

Juana Jane Garza, independent administrator of the estate of Ruben Garza, filed a complaint on March 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Seneca Nursing Home Inc., which does business as Lee Manor Health Care Residence Inc.,, alleging they failed to provide proper care to Ruben Garza.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Garza experienced pain from having developed pressure ulcers and staff at the nursing home didn't properly supervise him during a meal time in 2012.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than the jurisdictional limits of this court, and court costs. She is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group LLC in Chicago.
