CHICAGO — A woman is suing Mat Holdings Inc., the owner of a warehouse distribution center in Romeoville, alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent the fatal injuries suffered by a father of three minor children, who died in an accident involving a reach lift he was operating at the warehouse.

Andrea Brown, special administrator of the estate of Donald Coleman, filed a lawsuit on March 7 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging that the defendant failed to provide adequate training and warning to Coleman, who was operating a reach lift on the premises.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Donald Coleman sustained serious physical injury while operating a reach lift on Jan.12, 2017, his first day on the job at the warehouse. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly allowing Coleman to operate the lift despite knowing he needed more training.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by Willard L. Hemsworth III of Rathbun, Cserventak & Kozol in Joliet.
