CHICAGO — An Evanston woman is suing the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Catholic Bishop of Chicago and Saint Jerome Catholic Church for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent her from tripping over a rock that was propping open a door at the church.
Rose Simon-Smith filed a lawsuit on March 30 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants negligently used a rock to prop open a doorway on their property.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she sustained undisclosed physical injuries on Dec. 5, 2016 after she tripped and fell at the church while delivering supplies. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn her of the tripping hazard.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that is sufficient to satisfy the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by Fiorentino Law Offices in Chicago.
