CHICAGO — An Uber passenger is suing the company and Julie Ramer, her co-passenger, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence after Ramer allegedly stabbed her with a knife in their UberX car.
Jennifer Camacho filed a complaint on April 4, in Cook County Circuit Court against Uber Technologies Inc. alleging that it put her in contact with another passenger with violent propensities.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Jan. 30, 2017, she was stabbed by her co-passenger in the vehicle. The plaintiff holds Uber and Ramer responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly train their drivers in how to handle physical altercations among passengers. The app was advertising a ride-sharing feature for UberX customers at the time.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Bryant M. Greening of LegalRideshare LLC in Chicago.
