Family sues motorists for allegedly striking woman in fatal accident

CHICAGO — The family of a woman who died after being struck by vehicle is suing motorists Carlos A. Castro-Caldera and Luis A. Hernandez Lopez for negligence and allegedly taking  insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Shalvon Crawford, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Darlene Crawford, filed a complaint on April 6 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to properly control a vehicle, which then struck Darlene Crawford.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Crawford sustained serious physical injuries when she was struck by a vehicle on March 3.  The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to keep a proper look our for pedestrians who were crossing the street.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by James B. Zouras, Ryan F. Stephan and Andrew C. Ficzko of Stephan Zouras LLP in Chicago.
