Man claims he was arrested by Cook County for outdated warrant

CHICAGO — A man is suing Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart, the Office of the Cook County Sheriff and Cook County Department of Corrections, citing alleged violation of civil rights and violation of human rights.

Anthony Williams filed a complaint on May 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they arrested and incarcerated the plaintiff without probable cause.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was arrested on a warrant that was quashed in 1997, and wrongly jailed from May 27 to June 13, 2016. 

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount greater than $50,000, punitive damages and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Alfred S. Vano of Spinak & Vano P.C. in Chicago.
