CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing over a man's death, saying another man failed to safely operate a motorboat on Lake Delavan in Wisconsin, contributing to the death of Scott Apel in 2015.

Kathie Apel, independent administrator of the estate of Scott N. Apel, filed a complaint on July 11 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging defendant Peter Henley failed to properly operate a motorboat in which Apel was a passenger.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Apel died on July 22, 2015, after falling into Lake Delavan while either on board or attempting to board the defendant's boat. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise care while operating the motorboat to prevent Apel from being injured.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Mr. Telly J. Liapis of Ankin Law Office, L.L.C. in Chicago.
