CHICAGO — A woman is suing Sears for allegedly violating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Rebecca Castillo filed a complaint on July 18 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleging that the defendant failed to make sure that its website is accessible to all individuals.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who is blind, alleges Sears failed to properly construct or design its website to allow blind people to have full access, which she contended is a violation of federal law.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgement against the defendant, enjoin the defendant and recover compensatory damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Rusty A. Payton and Marc E. Dann of Dann Law in Chicago.
