CHICAGO — A deceased man's spouse is suing Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, Shalom Memorial Park and Randhill Park Cemetery Association for alleged negligence.

Ronnie Horowitz, special administrator of the estate of Paul Horowitz, filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to properly maintain their grave site and burial equipment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her husband's remains plummeted suddenly and unexpectedly into a grave, causing the top of the casket to be dislodged. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to supervise their personnel to ensure the casket would rest properly in the grave.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the minimum jurisdiction of this court. She is represented by Henry Phillip Gruss Ltd. in Chicago.
