CHICAGO — Three families of victims of a 2015 plane crash in Indonesia are suing Honeywell International Inc., Heico Ohmite LLC and PT Aviastar Mandiri for alleged design defect, negligence and product liability.

Iskandar Basami, personal representative of the heirs of Riza Armani Iskandar and Sakhi Abqari Riza Iskandar, Mrs. Aipu, presonal representative of the heirs of Lisa Ayu Valentin, and Agnes Budi Sullistyoningsih, personal representative of the heirs of Yudihistira Febry Aryanto, filed a complaint on Oct. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to properly manufacture the terrain awareness warning system (TAWS) that was installed on the aircraft in which the plaintiffs' decedents were riding.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their decedents' suffered and died when the aircraft they were riding in, designated as Aviastar Flight 7503, suffered a TAWS malfunction, causing it to crash in October 2015. The plaintiffs holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly design the TAWS that was installed on the aircraft and make sure that it was free of any defects before allowing the passengers to board the plane.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Floyd A. Wisner and Alexandra M. Wisner of Wisner Law Firm P.C. in Geneva.
