Niles Car Wash, Niles Police accused of humiliation, false arrest amid argument over bug guts left on car

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Niles Car Wash, the Niles Police Department and an officer for alleged breach of contract, fraud, unfair competition, emotional distress, attempted false arrest and unjust enrichment.

Nejla K. Lane filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she sustained emotional distress on June 3 when the car wash refused to rewash her car after she claims she found insect remains and other residues that were not removed from her car in a prior wash. She also claims a Niles police officer improperly threatened her with handcuffs when she was unable to move her car from the car wash's conveyor track, because the car wash would not send her car through the wash bay.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, punitive damages that exceed $500,000, compensatory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Nejla Lane of Lane Keyfli Law Ltd. in Chicago.
