Peoples Gas accused of failing to fix alleged gas leak

By Louie Torres | Jan 11, 2018

CHICAGO — Two people are suing Peoples Gas Light & Coke Company and Honore Properties LLC for alleged negligence.

Daniel Schmieder and Alaina Kaczmarski filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to make sure that the gas emitting from their property did not enter the condo unit owned by the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they experienced severe headaches, fatigue and other medical conditions associated with gas poisoning. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to determine the source of the gas leak that was flowing into the plaintiffs' condo unit and provide necessary repairs.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. They are represented by Lauren A. Buchanan & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
