CHICAGO — A flight attendant is suing Boeing for alleged design defect, negligence and product liability.

Karen Russell filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to properly design and manufacture a Boeing 737 aircraft, resulting in her being exposed to cabin air contaminated by emissions from the craft's jet engines, which were bled into the cabin.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered short- and long-term health problems from exposure to the toxins. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly design its aircraft to make sure that contaminants did not enter the ventilation system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Steven M. Sandler of Woodruff Johnson & Evans in Chicago.
