CHICAGO — A company and its shareholder are suing Brian J. Mulhern P.C. and attorney Brian J. Mulhern for alleged legal malpractice.
Byrne Builders Inc. and Peter Byrne filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to properly advise them on the terms of some documents they agreed to with a couple for whom they built two homes. In all, Byrne Builders alleges its attorneys' alleged missteps cost them nearly $500,000 in deposits paid by the couple.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek general damages greater than $50,000, special damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Robert D. Sweeney and John J. Scharkey of Sweeney & Scharkey LLC in Chicago.
