CHICAGO — The Chicago Sun-Times is suing the Chicago Transit Authority and Chicago Police Department for allegedly failing to produce video surveillance footage showing a passenger being pushed from a platform at a Blue Line CTA station by another man.
The Chicago Sun-Times filed a complaint on Jan. 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants denied its request for the video footage from Aug. 1, 2017, at the station at 19 N. Dearborn. The lawsuit disputes the CTA's determinaton the video was exempt from disclosure.
The plaintiff seeks to declare that the defendants have violated the Freedom of Information Act, order the CTA to produce the requested records, pay civil penalties, court costs and any further relief this court grants.
