Law money 10

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Crate and Barrel for allegedly charging sales tax on the Chicago Checkout Bag Tax.

Sonya Rayford filed a complaint on March 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant erroneously imposed a sales tax on the amount she was charged in tax for each bag sold under the special city tax when she allegedly purchased eight porcelain appetizer spoons from the defendant on Nov. 9, 2017.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an injunction against the defendant to stop charging sales tax on the bag tax, actual damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Thomas A. Zimmerman Jr., Sharon A. Harris, Matthew C. De Re, Nickolas J. Hagman and Maebetty Kirby of Zimmerman Law Offices P.C. in Chicago.
