CHICAGO – An independent contractor alleges he was injured while working at a Des Plaines facility when he stepped into chemicals spilled on the floor.

Arthur and Mary Ellen Tente filed a complaint on Dec. 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against DeLaval Manufacturing, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 30, Arthur Tente was working as an independent contractor performing requested electrical repairs when he stepped into chemicals spilled onto the floor of defendant's facility, which caused torn tissues, nerves and ligaments and severe chemical burns.

The plaintiffs allege the defendant allowed dangerous chemicals to leak, spill and pool on the floor of the facility; failed to erect signage or warn plaintiff of the presence of dangerous chemicals; and failed to timely clean up the chemical spills from the floor.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for a sum in excess of the minimum jurisdiction amount of the court. They are represented by Richard J. Grossman of Steinberg, Burtker & Grossman LTD in Chicago.
