Coles Supported Living Center named in wrongful death lawsuit

CHICAGO — A man is suing an assisted living center, alleging that a loved one was caused to suffer and die due to its negligence.

Glenn Sutherland, as independent administrator of the estate of decedent Dorothy Sutherland, filed a complaint on March 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Coles Supportive Living Center LLC, et al.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place beginning April 13, 2017 when the Dorothy Sutherland was a resident at the defendant's. Dorothy Sutherland allegedly was caused to fall that day, and allegedly had subsequent falls on May 11, 2017 and July 13, 2017. The defendant allegedly was negligent in the care of Dorothy Sutherland by allowing her to fall numerous times. Dorothy Sutherland reportedly was caused to die due to complications related to her falls.

The defendant is accused of wrongful death and negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs and damages in excess of $50,000. The plaintiff is represented by Jason Kellerman of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates in Chicago.
