HOLLAND & KNIGHT: Holland & Knight Receives ABA Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award for 7th Year in a Row

Award

Holland & Knight issued the following announcement on March 22.

Holland & Knight has been recognized with the Outstanding Services Award for the seventh consecutive year by the American Bar Association's (ABA) Military Pro Bono Project. It is the only law firm or company to receive the award every year since its inception in 2012.

In addition, Holland & Knight Partners Jonetta Brooks, Gary Halbert, Eugene Segrest and Andrew Weinstein, Associates Anthony Palermo and Sheila Petty, Attorney Matthew Covell, and Paralegals Eva Affholter and Charles Pentis were individually honored with the Outstanding Services Award for their "extraordinary pro bono services" in 2018. Also recognized was now-retired partner Patrick Skelton. They were among only 28 individuals recognized for their work with the project.

The ABA Military Pro Bono Project accepts case referrals from military attorneys on behalf of junior-enlisted, active-duty military personnel and their families with civil legal problems, and it works to place these cases with pro bono attorneys where the legal assistance is needed.

Holland & Knight was one of only two recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Services Award for law firms and organizations. To receive the award, a law firm or corporate law department must have its attorneys accept five or more pro bono case referrals originating with the ABA Military Pro Bono Project in the applicable calendar year. Individual lawyers who receive the award must have: a) accepted three or more pro bono case referrals or b) accepted one or more pro bono case referrals, reported the closure of one or more cases and reported to the project that the total pro bono time spent on the closed case(s) is 50 hours or more.
